Right to Life of Michigan Memorializes the 51st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Looks to the Future

RLM President Amber Roseboom Statement on the Anniversary

Grand Rapids, MI– As Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) memorializes the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade (January 22), RLM President Amber Roseboom reflects on the past and looks to the future.

“On the 51st anniversary of Roe V. Wade, we memorialize the lives lost and women and families destroyed by abortion. While Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ultimately righted the U.S. Supreme Court’s wrong, the impact of decades of propaganda to bring women to the doors of abortion clinics remains.

The threat to women and children in our state is real and expanding. Last fall, on the heels of the passage of Proposal 3 in November 2022, Governor Whitmer and proabortion Democrats in the state legislature eliminated basic health and safety standards from clinics that do abortions, putting women at even greater risk. Beyond that, in a shocking move, the Governor legalized partial-birth abortion, a procedure so gruesome most people don’t believe it happens.

At Right to Life of Michigan, we are intensely focused on deepening and expanding our presence in communities across our state to invite women to make another choice – the choice for life.

During the last few months, we have expanded our staff team to broaden our outreach to students and young professionals, the faith community and our digital reach online. Women want the truth, and, the more they hear it, the more they will make a choice for life,” stated Mrs. Roseboom.

In the 49 years under Roe, Right to Life of Michigan passed more than 50 life-affirming legal protections for women, unborn children, individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and individuals with chronic and terminal illnesses. The organization estimates more than 269,633 lives have been saved by just one legal protection.
