The main argument abortion supporters have for getting rid of the Hyde Amendment and forcing the prolife half of the country to pay for abortions with their tax dollars is that it’s unfair that poor women have to pay for abortions.
For a moment, let’s ignore the unreasonable position that abortion must be allowed as a choice for some, but those who choose against it are still forced to participate.
Here’s the truth: the abortion industry is hypocritical for complaining about poor women having to pay for abortions, because the abortion industry is the one taking their money.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the largest abortion provider in the country. In their latest annual report, they reported a profit of $110.5 million. They haven’t reported a profit below $58 million since 2010. In 2017, their profit was $244.8 million—a quarter of a billion dollars!
The average price of a 1st trimester abortion is somewhere around $500.
Planned Parenthood could use their profits to provide 221,000 abortions a year absolutely free of charge and still pay all of their bills. Why do they keep committing what they say is a terrible injustice against their own clients? Why do they refuse to help these women out? Who is forcing them to charge poor women for these abortions?
Planned Parenthood’s annual report shows their total assets are currently $2.278 BILLION dollars. Maybe they are just plain greedy; every year Planned Parenthood serves fewer clients while raking in more cash.
Instead of helping these women they claim to be concerned about, they are happy to make money off their backs—and the backs of their dead children—while they tweet away about the evils of the Hyde Amendment from their cushy Manhattan headquarters.
In the midst of a global pandemic where so many businesses are struggling to stay alive and so many people are unable to find work, should stimulus for Planned Parenthood’s bank account—which is already bursting at the seams—really be the number one priority for your money? How is your bank account doing?
We believe America should say no to violating the conscience rights of half the country, but everyone ought to agree it’s insane to take your money for an abortion “nonprofit” that makes a $110 million dollar profit.
