In November of 2023, the Death with Dignity Act (SB 678-681) was introduced in the Michigan State Senate to legalize the dangerous practice of allowing doctors to prescribe lethal doses of drugs to their patients to commit suicide. If passed, the Death with Dignity Act would allow patients who receive a six-month terminal prognosis to apply for physical assisted suicide. Currently, physician-assisted suicide is considered so dangerous, particularly for already at-risk communities, that only ten states and the District of Columbia have legalized the practice.
