As someone who recently found out I’m pregnant—whoo-hoo, six weeks!—I’m looking at this election through a new lens, with a fresh perspective on the kind of Michigan I want to help create for the next generation.

John James is running for governor of Michigan. What I appreciate about James is that he is unapologetic about his Christian faith. During his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for Governor, he began and ended by thanking Almighty God and recognizing that everything we have comes from Him. That kind of courage and openness is encouraging to those of us who want leaders who will stand firmly by their convictions.

His record also matters to the pro-life movement. James defends parents’ rights and supports parental consent requirements for a minor considering abortion. If we want the next Governor of Michigan to safeguard taxpayers from being forced to fund abortions, John James is the man. James has a long history of supporting life. He is unwavering in supporting life-affirming alternatives to abortion, compassionately standing for, not against, women facing unplanned pregnancies, supporting efforts to help couples grow their families and pushing back against the Democrats’ devastating impact on our pocketbooks, our communities and our principles.

I am reminded that young people also have an important role to play in shaping our state’s future. Whether you are Gen Z, Gen Alpha, or know someone from the younger generation, encourage them to get involved. Voting is one way to make a real difference, but young people who cannot yet vote can still volunteer, advocate, have conversations, and help others become informed.

With early voting beginning October 24 and Election Day on November 3, now is the time to learn about the candidates and issues on your ballot.

For pro-life voters, I believe John James offers a strong vision for a Michigan that supports women, families, parental rights, and the value of every human life.
