“As we celebrate the end of Roe, we recommit to bringing life-affirming hope to our communities. Our society can and must offer women more than an abortion-only response to unplanned pregnancy,” stated Amber Roseboom, President, Right to Life of Michigan.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – This Wednesday, June 24, marks the fourth anniversary of the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, brought celebration among pro-lifers worldwide and was widely recognized as a necessary correction to an unconstitutional exercise in judicial activism. Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) and the organization’s 80 local affiliates across the state join in celebrating this momentous anniversary.

“Under Roe v. Wade, the lives of more than 60 million innocent unborn children were lost, women’s health and well-being suffered, and the widespread destruction of families and communities resulted. While we celebrate the overturn of Roe, we are forced to reckon with its lasting impact,” stated Amber Roseboom, President, Right to Life of Michigan. “The ‘right to choose’ has become an abortion-only response to unplanned pregnancy for many of our friends on the left. Radical abortion activists in our state advanced and passed laws that put women at unprecedented risk of harm. The reckless removal of basic health and safety standards for abortion clinics, the elimination of informed consent for abortion and the end of abortion complication reporting are compromising industry transparency and women’s health.

“As we celebrate the end of Roe, we recommit to bringing life-affirming hope to our communities. Our society can and must offer women more than an abortion-only response to unplanned pregnancy. While a woman in Michigan can have an abortion for any reason at any point in her pregnancy, for choice to truly exist, women must have every opportunity to make a choice for life!”

In 2023, serious complications from abortion spiked up 38% over the previous year, a shocking demonstration of the impact of the Democrats’ mis-led policies and abortion-first agenda (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Abortion Report, 2024). Yet, Democrats in the state House and state Senate voted to remove abortion complication reporting, meaning women no longer know the growing risks they face when seeking an abortion in Michigan.

Right to Life of Michigan is currently working to support state House legislative efforts to reinstate abortion clinic health and safety standards (HB 6076) and abortion complication reporting (HB 5201, 5202 & 5203).
