Free Event Supports Local Pregnant Women and New Moms
DETROIT, MI – Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) and The Reconciled Church are proud to host the third annual Motor City Baby Shower on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Riverside Park in Detroit. (Details below.)
This free, family-friendly celebration will feature a wide array of community information tables and resources such as child support services, infant CPR training, doulas, lactation consultants, safe sleep education, postpartum care tips, information on Head Start/preschool programs and free GED classes, domestic violence prevention support and connections with local churches for prayer and ongoing community.
Give-aways include essential baby items, including car seats, strollers, clothing, pack ‘n plays and more. Spanish-speaking staff and resources will also be available.

The event’s purpose is to encourage community connections as we walk alongside families, meeting their emotional, spiritual and practical needs during this special season of life. More than 300 women are registered for this year’s event.
“It is critical that pregnant women know that they are not alone,” said Tina Teifer, RLM Director of Community Engagement. “We want every woman, couple and family to feel supported and valued as they prepare to welcome their baby. This event is a beautiful reminder of the love and resources our community offers.”
Crystal Kinard, Community Engagement Coordinator, added, “We’re excited to give out practical gifts like car seats, strollers, pack ‘n plays and clothing along with parenting resources and training. It’s a fun, celebratory gathering! All are welcome, including dads, siblings and extended family, to join us in Detroit.”
