After 37 Years, abortion is still not the solution

Grand Rapids, Mich. - January 22 will mark the 37th memorial of two U.S. Supreme Court decisions that legalized abortion for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. These rulings, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, rather than providing a solution for women have only caused more problems.

Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing said, " Now is the time to offer women facing an untimely pregnancy true hope. Thirty-seven years of abortion on demand is too long. Precious and irreplaceable unborn children have died because abortion has been sold to women as a solution. But instead of elevating women, abortion has led to the deaths of more than 50 million unborn children since 1973 and has brought pain and anguish into the lives many mothers and families."

The real problem is that government and society have failed to care for mothers in need. We have failed to provide hope for mothers. The idea that abortion will bring resolution to an untimely pregnancy situation is an illusion.

Local affiliates of Right to Life of Michigan have planned events to bring attention to the 50 million lost lives and bring people together to highlight the positive support available in our great state for mothers and families. Thousands will attend memorial services, prayer vigils and marches across the state. Hundreds will also travel to Washington, D.C., to take part in the annual March for Life.
