In recent years, when June comes around, I am quickly reminded that Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022. “Dobbs Day,” as we pro-lifers like to call it, should roar in with so much more fanfare, it seems. The fleeting joy of that landmark decision was overshadowed immediately by well-funded efforts to pass radical ballot initiatives that wiped out legal protections for the unborn in a handful of states, including Michigan.

Abortion is legal in our state at any point in pregnancy for any reason. Beyond that, the left has taken a wrecking ball to anything they deem a “barrier to access.”

At the national level, the Biden-era removal of the in-person dispensing requirement for the abortion pill means it is available to anyone anywhere without a medical examination to identify risks based on gestational age of the unborn child, location of the embryo or other medical complications The availability of the abortion pill has changed everything. It now accounts for well over 60 percent of all abortions.

Keep in mind, a recent study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center demonstrated that one in 10 women taking the abortion pill experience a serious adverse event, some requiring ER care.

So much for “safe, legal and rare” (remember Bill Clinton…). Of course, pro-lifers warned about the dark path Roe would pave. And here we are.

The unborn in our state, and any woman considering abortion, are now at unprecedented risk. With even abortion complication reporting struck from law, it is up to us – you and me – to stand in the gap. What we do and how we do it matters, maybe more than ever!

With unfettered access to abortion, our work to help women and save unborn lives must be done by engaging people with both the truth about abortion and a compelling message that invites a choice for life – engaging individuals in our social circles, online, our neighbors and colleagues, and society more broadly through smart campaigns and resources.

We must reach “choice” loving people with a message that counters the abortion-only response our culture seems to have to unplanned pregnancy. We must both save lives now and reshape the culture to welcome and value life in the years ahead.

People can choose. Our task is to make a choice for life, both desirable and possible, in each and every case, whenever and wherever possible.

Despite the best attempts of abortion providers and activists, while a majority of Americans consider themselves “pro-choice,” they have rejected the idea that abortion is a “good.” Even in Michigan, the majority of women 18-49 believe that “when facing an unplanned pregnancy, choosing to give birth is the better option than abortion.” (Public Opinion Strategies, October 29, 2025.)

Our Life. The Other Choice. ads and resources are helping them do that!

We are reaching abortion-vulnerable women with a message that invites a choice for life. When we air our ads, calls to the pregnancy hotline at the end of the ads rush in as life-saving care begins to be delivered. The pregnancy hotline reported its best year ever last year. Lives are being saved and changed!

We are on the verge of relaunching our ads this year with Hope as a new addition to the group. You can view it here. We aim to raise $1 million to launch this campaign. Please prayerfully consider supporting this important effort by donating to our Educational Fund here.

At Right to Life of Michigan and across our 80 affiliates, we are engaging the culture on life and taking the choice for life to people across our state – through local community events and fairs, new educational resources and materials, and these life-saving ads. I invite you to learn more by reading our website or emailing us at [email protected].
