Sgt. John Wayne Cockfield, USMC, RET.

Sgt. John Wayne Cockfield is the Treasurer of the National Right to Life Committee and Vice President for Medical Ethics. He serves as an at-large director on the NRLC Board and on the Executive Committee. Since 1996, he has worked with NRLC to promote public awareness of the present and growing threat of euthanasia. He served as a non-governmental organization (NGO) representative to the United Nations with Jeanne Head, U.N. Representative for NRLC, to keep prolife language in the International Treaty on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Mr. Cockfield has lobbied at the state and federal levels for passage of anti-euthanasia legislation. He travels extensively speaking out for protection of medically vulnerable people including the poor, the elderly, the disabled, and those who are chronically and terminally ill.

Born in South Carolina, Mr. Cockfield served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam until gravely wounded in action in November 1969. He received the Bronze Star with V for heroism and is medically retired with the rank of sergeant. He serves on the board of South Carolina Citizens for Life.
