Muskegon County Right to Life Benefit Dinner

Ed Rivet has been engaged in prolife activism for over 35 years, including 30-plus years as the Legislative Director for Right to Life of Michigan. In that role Ed worked to pass dozens of life-affirming laws regarding abortion, adoption, end-of-life issues and human cloning. Equally important was his work to thwart life-threatening bills, including attempts to legalize assisted suicide.

Ed was heavily involved in the effort to stop the killing escapades of Dr. Jack Kevorkian in the 1990’s and in defeating the 1998 ballot proposal that would have legalized assisted suicide. Ed served as RLM’s representative on the Michigan Commission on Death & Dying, created by the Legislature to make policy recommendations on end-of-life issues. His contributions to end-of-life policy include crafting Michigan’s medical power of attorney act, considered one of the most protective in the country, creating licensed hospice homes and requiring improved pain management education in state medical schools.
