Author and former Administrative Law Judge Lisa K. Gigliotti will deliver a powerful message about The Courage to Honor the End of Life; a critical message with the likely reintroduction of bills to legalize assisted suicide in Michigan. For more than twenty-five years Lisa has lived with severe rheumatoid arthritis and myasthenia gravis. Through fourteen major surgeries and recurrent use of a wheelchair, Lisa has maintained a fulfilling and positive life. She has achieved successful careers as an administrative law judge, a policy advisor for the Michigan senate and governor, and an advocate for people with disabilities and for improving end-of-life care. As a Bioethics law professor she cautions against societal whims and man-made laws diminishing traditional morals and observances. She is dedicated to helping others lead more fulfilling lives. In pursuit of encouraging others, Lisa has written four books that describe her Italian-American upbringing and how Coraggio - courage - is the key to positively overcoming adversity.
In The Courage to Honor the End of Life, Lisa discusses the fears and values society places on end of life, while encouraging the use of moral courage to value each person at the end of life through compassionate care, adequate pain management, hospice, psychological, and spiritual services.
After a fellowship at the United Nations, she has seen how western powers use money to degrade the pro-life cultures of developing nations. However, her time in pro-life communities abroad taught her that America's Pro-Life Movement is truly the global example in the defense of life. With this optimism, she is preparing to go to law school after a gap year so that she can fight for justice at the policy level and help other nations protect life in their own communities.
