Despite Poor Economy,Michigan's Abortions Decreased in 2009According to statistics from the Michigan Department of Community Health released in July 2010, the number of abortions in Michigan decreased by 13.9 percent in 2009. The report states that 22,357 abortions were performed in Michigan during 2009 compared to 25,970 in 2008. The data from 2009 represents the lowest number of reported abortions in Michigan since reporting began in 1979. Since 1987, there has been a 54.4 percent decrease in the number of Michigan abortions. |
