Adult Stem Cell Downloadable
Videos
“Adult
Stem Cell Research: Making a Difference Today” is a 19-minute video
which explains stem cell research using four human interest stories.
This video would be a great opener for a Sunday School Class, Bible
Study, or meeting on current events. Unfortunately, stem cell research
is grossly misrepresented in the media, but this video is an excellent
educational piece and will aid people when hearing about stem cell research
or talking with others about this important topic.
“The
Science of Stem Cells: Finding Cures and Protecting Life” includes
testimonials from and interviews with patient advocates, prominent scientists
and stem cell researchers urging support for adult stem cell research,
a nurse and bioethicist who addresses the effects of egg extraction
and human cloning on women, and a priest and bioethicist who addresses
embryonic and adult stem cell research from a moral and theological
perspective.

Michigan Abortions Decrease Again
According to recently released statistics from the Michigan Department
of Community Health, the number of abortions performed in Michigan decreased
in 2007. The report from the Michigan Department of Community Health
states that 24,683 abortions were performed in Michigan during 2007
compared to 25,636 Michigan abortions in 2006, a drop of 3.7 percent
or 953 abortions. Since 1987, there has been a 49.7 percent decrease
in the number of abortions performed in Michigan annually and the 2007
abortion statistics represent the lowest number of reported abortions
in Michigan since reporting began in 1979. If you or someone you know
is facing an untimely pregnancy, Right to Life of Michigan can help.

Child cured
by adult and umbilical cord blood stem cells
Various news outlets reported that a 2-year-old boy from Minnesota
was cured from a rare and deadly genetic skin condition after receiving
a transplant of stem cells from his brother. Nate Liao suffered from
recessive epidermolysis bullosa, a condition in which the skin is so
extraordinary fragile it will tear and blister easily. Nate’s body is
now producing the protein necessary to keep his skin from being damaged
so easily. To learn more, please visit the Right to Life of Michigan

Planned Parenthood
facing lawsuit because of botched abortion
It was recently discovered that a Planned Parenthood in the Washington,
D.C., area is facing a $50 million dollar lawsuit after a young girl
receiving an abortion at their facility was severely injured in the
fall of 2006. The lawsuit claims the teenage girl suffered among others
injuries, severe abdominal bleeding, significant uterine perforation,
and she is now infertile because of the abortion. Abortion is not worthy
of a woman. If you or someone you know is facing an unexpected pregnancy,
help is available by calling 1-800-57 WOMAN.
