Abortion in the Black community

The 2008 abortion statistics revealed some startling information about the prevalence of abortion in the Black community. Black women obtained nearly as many abortions in Michigan as white women (45.4 percent compared to 48.4 percent) even though Michigan’s population is only about 14 percent Black and about 80 percent white. Black women are having a disproportionate number of abortions. We’ve seen the percentage of abortions performed on Black women rise from 37.5 percent in 2004 to 45.4 percent in 2008.
